Women's European Volleyball Championship: Netherlands beat Italy in the Erreà derby to book their place in the semi-finals!

Baku, Azerbaijan. At the European Championships 2017 Netherlands beat Italy 3-0 and go through to the semi-finals. A great performance by the Dutch team that always had the better of the game, deservedly imposing themselves over Chirichella and her team mates, in particular with the masterful efforts of opposite Slöetjes. From the very outset of the match, the Dutch imposed their own pace, forcing Italy into long pursuits. In the final part of the second set the Italians demonstrated the best of their play, but their opponents dominated once more in the third. The best scorer was Slöetjes with 20 points, ahead of Bujis with 17, and Egonu scoring 15 points for Italy. The overall attack percentage was clearly in favour of the Netherlands - 56% to 37%. The “Orange” team has therefore battled its way through to a major semi-final to be played on Saturday 30 September against the winner of the match between Azerbaijan and Germany. We wish our team all the very best of luck!!!
