Trento surrenders at the the golden set in France and the 2017 CEV Cup goes to Tours VB!

Trentino Diatec’s dream of adding one of the few trophies that still elude them to their collection failed to materialise during the golden set. On Saturday, 15 April, the team from Trento were beaten 3-1 by the home team, Tours VB, that also went on to win the tie break and so celebrated the club’s first ever success in the CEV Cup. Having arrived in France following an emphatic 3-0 first round victory, Lorenzetti's team failed to achieve the result it was looking for, despite having played well during the first part of the match. Having lost the first set with a two point disadvantage and then winning the second by constantly controlling play, the yellow and blue team succumbed to the reaction by Tours, that led by Konecny (27 points with 47% in attack, MVP), went on to win the remaining games to end the contest in the final sprint in the golden set.  The hard-fought final was, of course, an in-house derby for Erreà, technical sponsor for both clubs. Well done to both our teams!
