Tuesday, 21 May saw the start of the 2019 Women's Volleyball Nations League, the event that was first held last season and saw a Russian victory in men's competition and a US win in the women's.
In the 2019 edition Italy will host a total of three rounds (2 women's, 1 men’s). As usual, the women's competition has got under way first, and will be followed by the men’s ten days later (31 May).
As stated, Davide Mazzanti's women's world championship runners-up will play two pool rounds at home, the first scheduled from 28 to 30 May in Conegliano and the second in Perugia from 11 to 13 June.
A home game, as mentioned, for Gianlorenzo Blengini’s men’s team, who will play in friendly surroundings in the fourth week of the pool games scheduled from 21 to 23 June in Milan.
In the women's VNL, Erreà Sport will be with the national teams of Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy and the Netherlands. Mazzanti's girls are playing their first matches in Poland, in the host city of Opole, from 21 to 23 May, and having already played Poland, they are also due to meet Germany and Thailand. Another match to look out for is the Erreà derby on 22 May between Belgium and Bulgaria.
