At the end of a record run of games, winning 85 points in 35 matches, Parma Calcio 1913 have assured their promotion to the Pro League and next season will take their first steps in the world of Italian professional football.
The 2-1 win over Delta Rovigo, at the packed Tardini Stadium, saw joyous celebrations for this much hoped for and long awaited achievement. The numbers of fans who loyally followed their team throughout this long season have, on average, been higher than when the team once competed in the top tier of Italian football. The excitement was sparked by the club's new owners, which include some well-known names, and by a competent technical team. This, combined with a freshness and a willingness to start again from scratch, drew the fans even closer to their beloved team.
