Iceland pulls off a huge result by beating Croatia and joining them at the top of Group I

The big result of the day’s Qualification for Russia 2018 comes from Reykjavik, where Iceland, in their Erreà kit, beat Croatia, joining them at the top of Group I. The match-winning goal was scored by Magnusson, whose 90th-minute header was enough to inflict the first defeat of this qualifying round on Kalinic and his team mates. The same day’s away wins by Ukraine and Turkey have made this a lively, extremely balanced group. The team that was the revelation of Euro 2016 now heads their group, and are gearing up for the challenges they will be facing in September and October. The next matches coming up: 2 SEPTEMBER: FINLAND - ICELAND 5 SEPTEMBER: ICELAND - UKRAINE 6 OCTOBER: TURKEY – ICELAND
