Trento triumphant in Turkey to win their first Cev Cup!

Following the Club's World Championship win, on 2 December 2018, the yellow and blue team have now also won the 2019 CEV Cup in Turkey, the only trophy that had thus far eluded them.

Winning the European trophy, second only, in terms of importance, to the Champions League, means that Trentino Itas can once again add their name to the list of illustrious European Cup winners, eight years after their last win, and celebrate their eighteenth title and the second this season.

In Istanbul, Lorenzetti’s team finished off the job they had begun so well in Trento, a week ago, with a second victory, in the return leg of the Final, over Galatasaray, who were playing at home, by 3-2. After two uncomfortable sets, in which the home team put their championship opponents on the ropes, the certainty of winning, over the two legs, arrived in the form of a comeback, thanks to the decisive third and fourth game wins and to the tie break.

"I believe that the final we lost in Tours in 2017 really served its purpose in the most difficult moment of today's match”-Angelo Lorenzetti said at the end of the final- “At that time we were disunited when faced with difficulties. This time, however, we were able to react as a real group, bearing in mind, also, that in the first two sets we played our part in going behind in the way we did, not capitalising on different break-point opportunities. This victory is important in so many ways. It most certainly isn’t the Champions League, but in recent years winning this trophy has never been easy, so we intend holding on to it tightly.
