Port Vale scored two goals within five minutes in the first half through Kian Harratt and James Wilson. After two goals were disallowed for offside, Mal Benning finally scored Vale's third goal, putting the game away.
The team from Stoke on Trent thus returned to the third tier of English football for the first time in five years.
