Italy gains second place in European Volleyball Championship

In an epic showdown, Italy's volleyball team secured the second spot, exiting the court amidst thunderous applause from the crowd. Poland avenged recent losses in Katowice, wresting the title from the Italians, who had been crowned European champions in 2021 and world champions in 2022.

Under the watchful eyes of President Sergio Mattarella, flanked in the stands by Minister Abodi and CONI President Malagò, over eleven thousand fans made history, contributing to an unforgettable atmosphere in Italian volleyball. Before the first whistle, a moving moment of silence paid tribute to the tragic events in Piedmont.

The Poles swept aside the Italians with a decisive 0-3 victory (20-25, 21-25, 23-25), showcasing extraordinary technical and physical prowess, especially in serving, thanks to Huber and Leon. Despite Italy's best efforts, Poland proved insurmountable.

The silver lining has a golden hue, and this outcome could serve as a springboard for such a young team, motivating them to further improvement and a pursuit of invincibility. New exciting challenges are on the horizon in Paris.
