After forty-seven years, Montpellier returned to win the French men's championship title. Olivier Lecat's team won the match against Tours (3-0, 25-17, 25-21, 30-28) and completed its clean sweep in the transalpine play-offs, in which it defeated Paris Volley, Chaumont and finally Tillie and his teammates without a defeat. Montpellier succeeds Cannes in the roll of honour.
