The Volksbank Reyer School Cup 2024 kicks off

The ninth edition of the Volksbank Reyer School Cup debuted with a surge of enthusiasm and new records, presenting an event that goes well beyond sports competition. Organized by Umana Reyer, the basketball tournament dedicated to Venetian high schools sees an extraordinary participation of 56 schools and over 46,000 students.

The event, sponsored for the first time by the Italian Basketball Federation, extends to Friuli Venezia Giulia, involving two regions and embracing a mission beyond the playing field. The Volksbank Reyer School Cup aims to engage young students, promoting values such as participation, loyalty, fairness, and team spirit.

The success of the event is fueled by active student participation, going beyond basketball competition. Each school replicates the organization of a basketball team, with dedicated press offices, online text, photo, and video productions, as well as cheering, cheerleading, and choreography during games.

Thanks to FIP sponsorship and collaboration with the Italian Referee Committee, each game is officiated by qualified referees, involving students in an educational project linked to refereeing. Fabio Crivellaro, a counselor from the Veneto Regional Committee, emphasized the importance of this initiative at the presentation press conference.

In the 2024 edition, the tournament unfolds in 107 matches, with an initial phase followed by the spectacular Reyer Madness, culminating in the Final Four at Taliercio on April 13, 2024. Umana Reyer has made the competition even more special by hosting the final event on the same court as Serie A teams, eliciting intense emotions among the finalist students.

The ninth edition confirms the consolidated success and introduces new elements: the slightly revised format includes 14 initial stages, followed by 4 groupings for the Reyer Madness phase and the Final Four. The duration of the matches has been set at 20 minutes, divided into two quarters.

In addition to the prestigious on-field recognition, the Volksbank Reyer School Cup awards prizes for the creative and communicative efforts of the students, embracing categories such as Best Communication, Best Fans, Best Cheerleading Team, and Best Instagram Page. The event represents a unique blend of sports, culture, and participation, solidifying its position as a showcase of youth enthusiasm and sporting values.
