2016 World Pentathlon Championships in Moscow: Belaud of France is the new World Champion!!!
The final of the 2016 men's individual competition of the modern pentathlon World Championships, which took place in Moscow from 23 to 29 May , saw France's Valentin Belaud (1514 points) crowned World Champion, following a final super-combined event.
This was a key competition given that, in addition to the medals, it also led to the awarding of three 'instant' passes for the Games and the final, most valuable points in the Olympic rankings, through which the final six places for Rio will be allocated on 1 June.
Silver went to Russia's Aleksander Lesun (1510 points), with Jinhwa Jung of Korea winning bronze with 1504 points.
France's women also did well with the silver medal going to Elodie Clouvel.
Other medals won by France included bronze in the team and relay competitions.
