Łódź, Poland. The women in Davide Mazzanti's team have reached the semifinals of the 2019 European Championships and on Saturday they will be in Ankara where they will play Serbia (4.00 pm CEST), in a fascinating repeat of the 2018 World Championship final.
Italy achieved this important and prestigious milestone by beating Russia 3-1 (25-27, 25-22, 27-25, 25-21) in the Atlas Arena in Łódź. Having failed to reach this stage in the last three championships, the last time being in 2011, Italy has at last won a place in the semifinals that will be played in the Turkish capital on Saturday 7 September, whereas the finals will be played on Sunday 8 September.
