A weekend full of triumphs for Italian volleyball!

A weekend full of triumphs for Italian volleyball: four gold medals won!

The first Italian triumph came from coach Davide Mazzanti's Azzurre, who beat Brazil 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-22) in the final of the Volleyball Nations League 2022, achieving their first historic victory in the VNL. Italy climbed to the top step of the podium, interrupting the reign of the United States, winners of the 2018, 2019 and 2021 editions of the Volleyball Nations League. Mazzanti's girls ended the intercontinental tournament with 13 wins and two losses (both in the first week).

The second concerns the men's under-18 national team winning the 2022 European Championships in Tbilisi (Georgia) and doing so by overcoming France 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-23) in the final. After the five victories in the group stage and the great performance in the semifinal against Serbia, this afternoon the Azzurrini overcame France, proving to be the strongest team in the competition and thus conquering, undefeated, the Gold Medal, the third in history after those obtained in 1997 and 2020.

The victory of the Under-21 Women's team in the European Championship is the third triumph in this successful weekend. In the final, the Azzurrine overcame Serbia 3-2 (17-25, 25-17, 15-25, 25-19, 15-11), as they did in the last match of the Pool, and climbed onto the top step of the podium.

Finally, the fourth triumph was the Italian under-22 men's national team's victory in Poland, which won the gold medal in the final against France 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-22,25-21).
